A Fat Freddy Favorite
It’s no secret that I love Chinese food. Unfortunately, it seems as though good Chinese is hard to come by. Unless of course, you know of Kanton Kanton.
Kanton Kanton, located in beautiful Davie, is what I warm-heartedly refer to as a hole in the wall- the dining room won’t accommodate more than 50 or so, and unless you know of it, you’re probably going to pass them by (which would be an incredible mistake).
The menu is traditional with dishes ranging from the everyday favorites to amazing chef specialties. If it’s a die-hard favorite (such as Lo Mein, Fried Rice, or General Tao’s Chicken) you’re looking for, you won’t be disappointed. However, Kanton Kanton really shines with their amazing entrées and specialties.
As you are first greeted by the friendly staff, you can’t help but notice the family atmosphere. And as such, service is fantastic. From proving hot towels to constantly refilling water, your needs are most certainly attended to – with a smile.
When dining at Kanton Kanton, I highly recommend beginning with their Pan Fried Dumplings. I have yet to taste better dumplings – anywhere. Fried to a golden brown, the surprising light outside is complimented by a moist and tender meat filling.
Since your meal is cooked to order, a good appetizer will definitely help pass the time needed to prepare your items.
For a main course, you can’t go wrong with any menu choice. Personally, I continually alternate between Mu Shu Pork and the Beef Chow Fun – although I also try to “sample” as much of a friend’s entrée as possible.
The portions are extremely generous. Often I bring home a doggy bag and eat an amazing lunch the next day.
